Cauliflower Curry
Pacifies Vata - Pitta - Kapha
Healthy cauliflower curry to pacify all doshas. Cauliflower can be Vata aggravating so should be eaten only once as week. Spices used are balancing the drying, airy, gassy effects that Cauliflower might have. 
Ingredients for 2

  • 1 small cauliflower

  • 2 tomatoes

  • 2 tsp. coconut oil or ghee

  • 1 tsp. cumin seeds

  • 1 tsp. mustard seeds

  • 2 cloves garlic

  • 1 small handful coriander leaves

  • 1/2 tsp. turmeric

  • 1 tsp. masala powder

  • 1/2 tsp. salt

  • 1/2 Tsp | Turmeric powder

  • 1 shallot or small onion

  • 1 piece of Ginger

  • 2 bay leaves (optional)


  1. Wash and rinse the cauliflower and tomatoes. 

  2. Chop the cauliflower in florets

  3. Boil 1L (more or less) of water (enough to cover fully the cauliflower)

  4. Add the lentils and 4 cups of the water to a pan and bring to a boil.

  5. Cook on medium heat, uncovered, for 30 minutes with 2 bay leaves. Stir from times to times

  6. Heat the oil in a small pan until medium hot, add the mustard seeds. Once the seeds start popping, add the cumin seeds, chopped garlic, chopped ginger. 

  7.  Add turmeric and masala powder. Mix quickly. This will create a paste. 

  8. Add this spice mixture into the soup, then add the salt. Add some or all of the last cup of water, depending on the how thick you want the dal (indian soup).

  9. Add fresh coriander on top + a tsp of ghee or coconut oil and a squeeze of lemon or lime (pitta) if you wish.

  10. Enjoy with basmati rice!
